Our service
We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. This website provides information about Hotel Alte Post in Schongau, rooms and rates, breakfast, directions and local attractions. Room bookings are made through a link to an external booking system. You can also contact us by telephone or email.
This information covers https://altepost-schongau.de/ and its German and English content. It does not describe the physical accessibility of the hotel. Before booking, please ask us about the facilities and your individual requirements.
Accessibility status
Our design aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Full conformance has not yet been established. A comprehensive assessment of all pages using different assistive technologies is still required.
The website includes a skip link to the main content, labelled controls, alternative image descriptions and adjustments for reduced motion preferences. The layout adapts to different screen sizes. Legal information is provided in HTML with a linked table of contents.
Known limitations and alternatives
Interactive attraction cards
The attraction cards on “Schongau & Surroundings” have a front and a back. In the current implementation, the two sides are not separately identified for screen readers. Each card also contains a route link inside an area identified as a button. This can make the content and controls harder to understand and operate with assistive technology. We intend to improve the controls and separation of content. You can also ask us about local attractions and directions by telephone or email.
External booking system
Booking buttons open a third-party booking system. Its booking process was outside the scope of our technical self-assessment; full accessibility has therefore not been confirmed. If you encounter difficulties, please contact us by telephone or email and we will help you with your booking enquiry.
Parking overview PDF
The parking overview provided on the contact page is an older PDF document. Its reading order, alternative text and screen reader usability have not been fully assessed. The main parking information is also available as text on the contact page. We can provide further information by telephone or email.
Assessment and further improvements
This information was prepared on 25 October 2026 following a technical self-assessment of the redesigned website. Source code and selected page functions were reviewed. No independent certification or comprehensive WCAG assessment has been completed. Testing with different screen readers, magnification and all colour contrast combinations still needs to be completed.
